I dont know what to do for an oppreating system in the new gaming computer im about to build. With windows XP 64 coming out do I have to buy windows xp pro, then buy an upgrade too or what?

MS has said they will be doing some sort of license swap to let XP32 users get XP64 for free. That said, they haven't revealed the full details, so it may only cover retail copies(and not OEM), etc. You'll probably be able to get XP64 for free, but we'll see.

It would be a long time before lots of games come out with 64 bit versions. Even with current 64bit versions the benefits aren't that drastic compared to 32bit, assuming the publisher doesn't cheat and add caviats for using the 64bit version (won't name who!) :)

So sticking with 32bit until enough 64bit games and software come out seems reasonable for now.
