XP Pro won?t shut down.

Recently I have been adding and removing software (Roxio Basic, Roxio Platinum, Nero, CDex, EAC, etc) for my Plextor burner. Now windows will not shut down as usual. It now only restarts.

I don?t know if this is related to the Roxio burner software or not. A friend of mine experienced blue screens after installing Roxio.

I tried using the Nero BR software from my wife?s machine but it said that this particular version wasn?t made for Plextor.

Roxio says that it can?t find a CD burner on my system.

Can someone help? Is there a fix available for XP using Roxio Platinum?

Yes.

You need to update Roxio Platinium for it to work under Windows XP.

Find it here:
Roxio EZCD 5.3.1 SP4

If you installed version 5 of EZCD, it conflicts with Media Player 8 in WinXP.
Media Player has its own version of Adaptec's audio burning software which conflicts
with EZCD 5. The Update fixes it. It could fix the shutdown problem also.

If it doesn't correct it, more than likely it is an issue with Direct CD if you installed that.

On a side note:

What other choices do I have for burning software for my Plextor other than Roxio or Nero? They both have issues with XP and stuff.

I just need something that works easy and doesn?t require me to go to regedit to fix it. Is that too much to ask?

nero has worked without any issues for me with xp!
