I currently have a copy of XP PRO (non-upgrade version). I currently have ME and want to change to XP PRO. I have a great deal of information on my PC and I dont want to lose it. Will XP PRO (non-upgrade) perform an upgrade and not format my hardrive? Or do I need to use XP PRO UPGRADE?? Please help THANK YOU

You can use the XP Pro to just upgrade. In fact you will be given the option during the process to do a complete reinstall or an upgrade.

I'd just like to put in my standard "This isn't such a good idea" thing. With an upgrade, you get all the problems you were having with your old OS, all the problems you're going to have with the new OS, and possibly a whole bunch of other problems that might show up down the road. If you can, I would definitly recommend that you back up all of your data and reformat. I can understand if you have way too much stuff on there to do that...but it really is the best way to go.
