XP pro vs XP home what's the diff

I am putting a new machine together and I am currently using 98 SE. I want to start a wireless home network. I was thinking about moving up to XP but which version should I buy. Do I need XP pro for a small home network of two or three computers? Does the OS matter if I have a stand alone router and access point?

Yes indeedy, there is a FAQ.

Oh, and ironically, Microsoft is a good resource to check. They went out of their way to create a page that deals with this question.

Microsoft's isn't at all as good as Andy's easy-to-read concise FAQ.

Well I actually did go to the microsoft pages and tried to find out what the main differences where but did not find any sort of comparison between the two. I read the specs on XP home and it mentioned no deficits relative to XP pro. Thanks for the link to the right page. It is sorta like finding a needle in a haystack.

Finding stuff on MS's site sucks indeed unless ou're used to browsing it.

A tip if you wanna search it in future, go to google and just search for "difference between xp home and pro site:www.microsoft.com", but of course replace everything before "site:www.microsoft.com" with whatever you wanna search for.

Google owns Microsofts search 🙂
