XP Pro user's computer keeps getting locked once every minute

While down for Thanksgiving I reinstalled Windows XP Pro on my sister-in-law's computer and today my brother tells me (phone) that the user keeps getting asked for a password to unlock the computer. Control Panel/Power Options is configured to put the machine in standby "Never." "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby" is unchecked as well.
The window that comes up once a minute (if the computer is unused) has title bar "Unlock computer"

It says:

This computer is in use and has been locked

Only <user name> or an administrator can unlock this computer.

User name: <user name>

Password:

OK

What could be going on here?

If "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby" is unchecked then it sounds like the action of someone connecting via remote desktop to that pc.

Noone should be doing that. Sounds like malware. Argh... already. 🙁

Bump. I had my brother do a full system scan SuperAntiSpyware (after updating) and he updated his Avira Antivir Free and do a system scan and the problem persists. So, I had him download Spybot Search and Destroy (spybotsd160.exe), install it, download all avaible updates and he's doing a system scan right now. Any suggestions appreciated.

It's still happening after full scans by Spybot S&D, SuperAntiSpyware and Antivir. What else can we try?

Bingo, that's exactly what it was. Actually, my brother found it himself and called me this morning and told me how he fixed it.
