XP Pro User Profile = 2.57 GB OMG!

Is this a normal number? Do I need to worry about it being so big? What all goes into this figure?

It espescially seems high since the admin account size is 881 KB.

It's on the large size. Check the size of the Temporary Internet Files folder and see what kind of crap there is in areas such as My Documents. Another good area to check is %username%\Local Settings\Temp.

remember to consider that the desktop is part of that.... I personally dump ISOs, divx's, etc on my desktop for convenience.

CTho9305 is right. The desktop is another location junk downloaded accumulates. If you still have trouble finding what's taking up the space, make sure you can view hidden folders in explorer, and check each folder's size under %username%. You should be able to see one that's unusually large, then check all folders in it the same way. This should lead you to it.

I had a feeling that it was including desktop files in it's calculation, but since I'm having difficulties seeing folder sizes (see Troublehooting forum), I didn't know for sure.

Go into, Documents and Settings/User Profile Name/

All the documents stored under that user profile will be located in there, a number of which may initially be hidden.

lol that's huge! Although I guess it really isn't if all your Mp3s and whatnot are in it... I personally changed the default my documents folder to a folder on another partition..

2.47gb isnt that big, how big is your internet cache? mine is 500 megs. i dump isos, movies, and massive files to desktop also. the big killer of space is desktop items and internet cache.

How do you do a User Profile in XP Pro? Is that something you can save (say, onto CDROM) and restore later or move onto a new system?
