XP Pro Upgrade over XP Home?

I never had good luck doing a standing upgrade on Windows Operating Systems, but I have a small office that I help support that needs to go with XP Pro. They are running Office 2003, AVG anti-virus and a few other misc applications.

Should I try it or backup, format and reload?

Thanks!

If any hardware/software is not working or flaky, an upgrade wont cure it. If everything is running fine, and windows is patched and updated, no viruses/spyware, disks cleaned up and defragged - the upgrade to Pro will present no problems.

Just did what you're proposing on two systems the other day. These system were both in good working order. Worked like a charm. I've not run into any problem on any Home to Pro upgrades I've done. But you just never know...

Hey thats what DVDs are for nice and big to make backups viztech you should do a fresh install, its the only way to do it and to make sure things work as they should. 🙂

I tried an upgrade from home to pro (after backing up everything) recently and found the upgraded PC to be much slower. I wiped it and did a fresh install and its back to normal performance agian (all subjective no benchmarks).
