XP Pro Upgrade on new system

I have Win XP Home, but I got Pro upgrade for $5. I am building a new system, and I was wondering if I can just put in the Pro CD and if it will ask for my copy of my XP Home then do a clean install or if I will have to install the home first then upgrade over it. Please help.
 
well you dont have to install any operating system before using the xp pro upgrade cd. if its an upgrade cd, it will prompt you for a previous version of windows during installation at which point you can pop in a cd for another version of windows into your cd drive and be on your way.
