XP Pro upgrade for students $82

not trying to sh!t in your post. But I goto University of Michigan - Dearborn and I was able to buy the XP Pro for $45. Full Version

Just though i'd let people know you can probabily get it from your ITS / computing department!

Similar to what Matthew said - at least the UT (University of Texas) system of schools - all Microsoft products are $6 per CD. (Office XP is 3 CDs making it $18). I know a lot of other universities have the $6 a CD program.

Here at Maryland all undergrads (like myself) can only get Mac software cheap, only Employees and Grad students are able to get the Microsoft products. Such BS.

At my sisters college they dont get any discount, so I can never get in on these deals. Wish I could because I hate the eye patch...

Would you believe that the University of Washington, in Seattle, home of the Allen Library, Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science and Engineering, William H. Gates Hall, and Mary Gates Hall does not offer all students a huge discount on Microsoft software?

It must revenge for that RedHat mirror operated by the UW Center for Academic Computing.

Thanks for pointing out the NewEgg deal, OP!

heard a rumor on upgrading in the future on a "student" version is a pain?
Or you cannot do it?

Any truth to this "rumor"?

I got two copy of free XP pro from DePaul Chicago, Microsoft had some stupid event at my house for the last year. I forget I was the lucky one that won a free Xbox too. Thank Bill!!!😀

At Ohio State, we have the "Buckeye Bundle". Windows XP Pro, Office XP Pro w/ Frontpage, and Visual Studio .NET for $99. Pretty good deal if you want/need most or all of these products, but we can't buy Windows by itself.

Check to see if your schools are members of the MSDNAA. UMass is, and any student can get TONS of MS software (included XP Pro) for FREE. Just download the .iso and burn it... 🙂

MS' has diferent versions/levels of Academic ..MicroSoft ..very possible this one is doable. <edit> from here Examples of Entities Not Eligible for Academic Pricing:
Non-accredited schools
Training centers
Non-United States residents or educational facilities
Churches
K-12 education students and their parents
Hospitals, Healthcare Systems, and Research Laboratories that do not meet the qualifications above
Non-profit/charitable organizations that do not meet the qualifications above may qualify for the Charity Open License program
but it is rather funny that the following group is eligible..) Home-School Programs
Defined as a home-schooling program which provides primary education to a student or students aged eighteen (18) or under and which is able to provide written proof that it either (i) belongs to a nationally-recognized home-schooling organization, or (ii) is expressly recognized by a local school district as an acceptable alternative to an accredited or state-recognized/approved educational institution.

..seems there is a bit of discrimination therein which could be used by some group/individual(s) as a class-action.......

many of us go to schools that don't have the unlimited license partnerships with Microsoft, and can't get any microsoft products for under $50...so this is a pretty good deal.

How do you get a subscribers/membership ID? I'm presuming you need to get it from your school......who do you need to talk to?

MD.

I think all Cal State schools are different. Cal Poly students used to be $10 for XP pro full, and $10 for Office XP, free checkout for staff for home. Not sure now, I think the original agreement expired.
