XP pro system keeps hanging up on shut down or stand by.

I have been having tons of bad luck with most of my PC's. Mainly long shut down times most of the time making me hold the power button. I am running XP pro, SystemWorks2004 on all of them and I have current drivers,updated AV and OS. I have only the needed items in the startup menu. I run defrag with speed disk all the time, clear the temp files. I can even let my PC sit for 10mins after usage and then try to power it down and usually it will still freeze upon shut down or take 2mins. This happens randomly on all my systems, they have clean installs , the oldest install of XP was less then a month ago.

Try uninstalling SystemWorks and pick up a different scanner.

Get something like pstools (http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/pstools.shtml) and see if you can watch the processes, maybe see what is hanging up your boot.
