XP Pro SP2 upgrade can be used on a new install right.

I'm gonna buy an XP SP2 Pro academic priced version for my new PC. I think I remember installing an upgrade copy on a new PC before but it just asked me to put in an older copy of windows to verify I actaully have a previous version, I have a 98 disc I can use. This will work right.

If it's not an upgrade edition, then you don't need another Windows disc at all.

Yep, upgrade discs will work fine on new installs.
