Hi,
My ECS MB died; which was Via Chipset MB.
I got new MB IS7:thumbsup: which is 865 Chipset MB.
Now my Xp Sp2 Windows wont boots to that.:brokenheart:
I have installed my Spare HDD and reinstalled XP.
Computer boots up just fine and all that good stuff.
My Question is Can I some how remove OLD MB drivers (Chipset etc)
in my OLD HDD; and Have new Stuff installed.
Or do I need to make an ASR disk from this New OS.
And Restore to old HDD ?
so basically in a nutshell I dont want to wipe out my old OS and programs.
Is there any soulution ?

Get Your XP CD Look in the Support\Tools subfolder and then the Deploy.cab file. Extract out sysprep.exe and the setupcl.exe to the location C:\sysprep (make the directory if needed). From a command prompt, go into the sysprep directory and type sysprep -mini -reseal as the last thing you do before changing to the new motherboard.

After running this shut down DONT REBOOT.. shut down and install New MB. Upon First Boot windows Should redetect and Install all the drivers it needs, then you can go from then re-installign drivers all your apps and everything should still be intact

OH In That case...

Your gonna haveto Boot to your XP CD.

It will come up and ask if you want to repair the Current Instal choose No at this point and continue thru to the section Were it wants to prep the Drives or partition. There will be another Option to repair again here go ahead and select that at this point.

You will have to re-install all your Apps and rsetup All your preferences but Your Data will be intact.
