quick specs

XP Pro SP1
P3 933
384 MBs RAM
20 gig hdd
FAT32

i turn it on and it goes to the XP splash screen but hangs after that. It doesn't boot into windows and nothing happens, it just hangs.
I can boot into Safe Mode. Debuggin, Boot Logging and Normal Boot does not work =(

I tried a repair install, FIXMBR, and FIXBoot .. but to no avail.

Help?

UPDATE: turned out the sound drivers were corrupt. So i deleted them in safe mode and it all works well now.
Thanks for the replies.

Is your CPU/Mobo overclocked? Possibly a registry issue? Ram?

What was the last thing that you changed? What video? when it hangs does the caps lock and num lock work (ie turn the light on and off?)? If you press the power button do you hear the windows shutting down sound (quick press not the press and hold)?

What video card? My suggestion is to boot into VGA mode with the audio hooked up(that way if it plays sound events you will know) and then uninstall the video driver. I would suspect a bad video card...

Last question did the other Hdd have an OS on it (namely a dupe of the one that you were using?)? If so then you have have run into a MS issue with 2 installs where the system gets confused and hangs. If you have a little time search the MSKB and if you have access to another system you can use the MMC to connect to the system and change the registery setting that is causing the problem.
