Bad MB in my primary PC....will be switching to NForce2 so will be formatting Partition and installing XP Pro fresh. Since that PC is down, I have moved the HD to my Son's XP Pro machine, and have been moving data to another partition on that HD prior to building the new NForce PC. One folder I have was encryted by XP. On my sons PC I can not move it. I have tried every ownership, permission setting I can think of and it still will not let me move or copy the data. I really hate to lose this data, any ideas?

Thanks!

first read the FAQ's . then you might be able to hook up the old drive to your son's comp as the only drive. see if it will boot and remove the encryption. or put the old comp back to gether just long enough to unencrypt your stuff.
good luck

If you cant boot into the windows that you used to encrypt the data, your data is pretty well gone. (Unless you backed up the encryption key somewhere). You cannot simply take ownership of the data.

This was the point of encryption. It was made so someone could just steal a harddrive, put it in another system, and take it.
