Long overdue, but I just got done setting up the three users at my wifes office with Limited Accounts. Everyone was set up as Administrator before.

I tried to manually go into Windows Update and was unable to accomplish anything as Limited Accounts don't have permissions to do so. I was over there most of the day yesterday and all morning today and was beat and headed home. Now that I'm home, I'm wondering if automatic updates will occur as they used to. I'm burned out, we have about 8 inches of snow and I'm not heading back today.

There is no domain set up and for now they're still using Simple File Sharing.

I thought I had run across a registry tweak that allowed Limited Accounts to use Windows Update, but I have searched and searched and can't seem to find anything. Maybe I just imagined it.

So, am I OK on this, or are further steps needed?

Aw, c'mon, now how will they reinstall Bonzi Buddy without Admin powers? :(

;)

What should happen is that when they go to shut down, there should be an Install updates and shut down option in the list.

BTW if you open Group Policy Editor, you can dredge up some additional goodies, like having Windows immediately install those updates that don't require a restart.
