XP Pro Laggy?

Hey,

I just got my new rig up and running, and I'm basically running a "stripped" version of XP. Well, one thing that really has started to get me a little pissed is that ever since I installed XP, moving the scroll bar results in pages loading in "bits and pieces". It's almost like IE is loading every inch or so individually. (This happens to all windows, not just IE)

My set up is pretty good. I'm running a 3700+ (Stock) and I have 1.5gb of RAM.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

This most likely has to do with the settings on your video card. What kind of video card do you have, what are its settings, and have you installed the latest drivers for it?

What "stripped" version of XP are you running? If it is not an official release from MS, then who knows what kind of bugs, hacks, cracks and other bad things could be in there.

Yep, sounds like video driver issues. Are you sure XP is using drivers designed for your video card rather than default VGA drivers?

Right now, I have a 6600LE (eVGA) and it's completely stock).

The stripped OS im running is called "Vertigo". I own an XP license so I guess it sort of cancels out? Heh

Edit: Hrmm, crap. Now that I think of it, I haven't installed the video drivers 😱 That's probably this is happening, right?

Yeah, you've probably go to install your video drivers. Just go to their site and download/install the latest ones and you should be set.
