XP Pro doesn't find my CD Rom Drives

This may be a simple problem but Windows XP pro doesn't find my CD rom or Cdrw drives. It has worked fine the last few months untill today. Have a nice day
 
What did you do before this happened? Did you install any new software? Did you go into the case for any reason? What type of motherboard/computer? Does it see the cd drives when the computer post, before the windows splash screen? Sorry need some specific info. Might somthing as easy as reseting NVRAM or bios defaults, or making sure that the IDE cables are secured to the devises and mobo.
 
let us know what you have tried so far

do the cdroms still show up in bios? do the drives show up in device manager?
