Does anyone know of a way to enable the classic view to login and the drop down box to shutdown, just like in Win 2K?? Thanks

here are 2 things that may help you: (im not sure which one you were looking for so i just gave you 2 examples ive found), #1 will get you to the ctrl+alt+del to logon and i KNOW it works for certain because ive used it before. good luck!

1) http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;291559

2) Changing the Windows XP logon window

Windows XP has two types of logon window available: the 'classic' NT / Windows 2000 style window, and the Windows XP Logon screen where all configured users are displayed, together with pretty little pictures.
In a secure environment, it is preferable to use the classic logon screen, especially when combined with the tweak to remove the last-entered username. This tweak allows you to force the classic logon screen to be utilised.

To force the use of the classic logon screen:

Use a registry editing tool to navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Insert or change a value with the following details:
Data Type: DWORD
Value Name: LogonType
Value: 0

Restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
Please note: Forcing the use of the classic logon screen will disable the use of Fast User Switching.

The setting is also in Control Panel -> Users -> there's an option called change the way users login.
