I reformatted my PC some time ago, and reinstalled Windows XP Professional. Ever since then, I've been getting wierd behavior out of how Windows deals with my optical drives.
For instance, I did not turn Autorun off, but nothing happens when I insert any disc. If I go into My Computer, the disc drives simply state what they are (DVD-RW, CD-RW, etc), instead of stating the name of the volume that is inserted. Likewise, if I go to the properties of the drive and try to view the volume information, it states there is no volume mounted on the drive and doesn't give me any info. There is an exception to this: if I boot with a disc already in the drive, it will display the volume information.
Despite this, the function is normal. If I double-click the drive, the files contained on the disc are displayed, and they can be accessed with no problem.
This was not a problem prior to the reformat. Does anyone have any idea what is causing it or what I can do it fix it? I mean it's not critical, but it's very annoying.
