how can i tell xp where i always want it to install things, i have a different partition, also moving the my documents, my music and other folders to the other partition.

another problem i have is i partitioned my drive but windows is only finding 2 of the partitions, i have 50 gigs that is lost somewhere.

system is an epox 9npa ultra, x800pro, amd 3000 venice, xp pro, wd 120gig.

TweakUI will let you change the locations of your special folders (My Documents, My Music, etc.).

As for your missing 50 GB, right-click your My Computer icon and click Manage. Check under Disk Management to see if you missing space is listed there. You may need to format the missing partition.

For your default installation path, you can change the location of your Program Files folder, but that may or may not change the default installation path. Some poorly written installers may have "C:\Program Files\" hard-coded into their installer, rather than reading the appropriate system setting and thereby using your custom path.
