I have a dual boot Windows XP Pro/Windows XP Pro 64 bit situation and while my external firewire HD works normally in the 32 bit windows, it will not show in 64 bit windows no matter what I try, pluggin in/out, jogging power switch, restarting while it's not plugged-then pluggin in live, etc, etc...
I got nothing here, can anyone lend a bit of advice?

This is at least worth a bump, but there have been so many complaints about XP 64 bit OS in the past year that it is generally considered very buggy. And, there is precious little 64 bit software that can use it - so why bother?

Anyway - is your 1394 port on the mobo or a separate card? Is the 1394 controller seen in Device Manager?

Thanks Corky. I know the road to 64 bit compliance has been a destitute and troubled one, but I figured after 2 years of owning a 64 bit capable cpu, a sour year of waiting for drivers which I now have (logitech Setpoint drivers work with the 510 mouse -something they won't tell you) that it was time to go at it again. Dual boot, what can you lose, right? The two programs I use most and which drive my upgrades directly are Cinema4D and Photoshop, both multiprocessor coded and 64 bit compatible so there's the motivation. I have both types of firewire port, MB and addon, and neither work. The 1394 TI controller shows no issues in the device manager. The Belkin addon firewire card has no driver yet that I can find, and Belkin seem in no hurry to get back to me (their website offers a driver, but the link leads to nowhere fast). I'd put another one of the now readily available high GB count drives in the case but with the number of earthquakes rising locally I feel better having an external backup. I'm not sweating it. The ABIT Quad GT has eSATA that that will replace the firewire shortly if no joy in the driver/OS dept.
Thanks again Corky

EDIT: Belkin has responded that the pci firewire card uses no special driver, simply windows default. So there goes that option for getting it working.
