XP Plus!: Speaker Enhancements

I just heard from my friend that she used the speaker enhancements from Windows XP Plus! and it really improved the sound. What I am wondering is why I never heard about this and also what does this speaker enhancements do? Anyone uses it? Reviews?
 
It's a lame-ass DSP. It just fills in the sound by applying a few weird eq adjustments.

It does make the sound fuller, but it muddies it up a bit, and it sucks for 3d positional audio.
