I've been offered a copy of XP professional corporate but I heard that Microsoft has made this software "share proof." Anyone know what the real story is?

I agree, when in doubt don't.
But I can tell you that XP Pro Corporate is indeed the LEAST "share proof" flavour of XP you can get.

I'm actually quite happy with WIN 2000 but being a curios person, how can XP be "share-proof?" Seems to me that if any software can be made "share-proof" then there will be quite a few idle CDR's in the near future. Dontcha think?:Q

It's the activation needed on the non-corporate versions, do a search the topic has been done to death, it's pretty effective at doing its job.

The Corporate version of XP has no software-check. It is not for sale, other than to companies, I.E. dell/gateway. If you want to download it, you'll have to find someone who has it, or find a site/ftp server that is hosting pirated software (check IRC dalnet channels [extremewarez])
