XP pauses for 30-60sec at startup?

How come my XP install pauses for like 30-60 sec at startup, before I can connect to the net etc. Norton wont enable itself for this time as well. It as if some system service isnt starting properly.

Any idea what it could be? This only happens at startup.

Try checking out event viewer under administrative tools...it may help.

Thanks, found the prob. My NIC is trying to use DHCP to find an IP, but it doesnt exist since I'm using PPPOE. Just set my ip to 111.111.111.111 and I was good to go.
