Hey all,
I'm getting this really weird, unpredictable problem as XP boots up (during the black screen with the scrolling bar on the bottom of the Windows logo). Sometimes during it I get a BSOD saying ERROR: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (0x000000050) or some number like that. When I get the error, I just power off/on again until I don't get the BSOD and the system starts up fine. On somedays the machine starts up fine and error free, and others I'm sitting there for 15 minutes pressing the power button repeatedly until XP finally boots up error-free. I tried to look on the Microsoft Knowledgebase and there are alot of articles concerning this error and NT4, but I can't find any concerning this error and 2K or XP. Also, all the mentions of the NT4 problems concern software/hardware that I don't have. I also have occasional problems with shutting down, where the system will hang on the "Shutting down computer" screen and the power buttons are rendered unusable and I have to turn off the surge protector to get the machine to turn off.
Thanks.
Oh yeah, I've tried to play with ACPI settings in the BIOS to no avail...
