Hey Gregshin again, what's up?

I would recommend Win2k.. I have winXP on a PC at work, and I don't go near that PC anymore.. XP totally sucks IMO.

Win2k has always done what I wanted it to with little hassle.. I have experienced Zero problems with Win2k which is less than I can say about winXP.

Wouldn't XP be better for gaming? Since win2k is mainly geared for server/workstations? Wouldn't XP pro be more compatible and even more likely for pple to make games/software for? I don't know for sure, thats why its' in question form.

Depends on what else you plan on doing with the system.

For me, XP blows W2K out of the water when looking at support for my new video capture card (ATI 8500DV).

But if you are coming up from Win98/ME either should work for you.

I will attempt to answer your questions from MY personal experience.

First questions' answer: when i was using windows98 i had good fps, when i formatted and switched to win2k using the exact same hardware, my fps went UP under windows 2000 - many of my friends can say the same thing.

Second questions' answer: the very first piece of software i installed in windows XP did not work properly. - Norton Anti-Virus 2001. I was doing experimenting, you'd think 2001 NAV should work on XP, even in compatibility mode it would not work.. I am religious with critical updates too, when the first one came out for WinXP i ran it, and ended up having to format the hd as the computer never booted again.... - As a result of a these and a few more things, I hope I never have to see that worthless POS operating system again.

WinXP is suppose to be a vast improvement over Win2K. I can't see any of the improvements thus far, I would highly recommend going with Win2K, there is very little software that doesnt' work under 2K, and even if it doesn't, chances are you can get it running with little problems.. Rainbow six anyone?

I use Win2K at home and at work on a total of about 6 PC's and all run flawlessly and all PC's perform different tasks with differnet applications, and all are working like a dream. Needless to say I love Windows 2000.

Gee, if you don't like the steering wheel in your Corvette, do you say, "I'll never buy another POS GM car!"? Didn't think so.

People who KNOW stuff know that NAV2K1 doesn't work with XP (there may be a patch), but NAV2K2 DOES. I have it running just fine on my XP partition.
