XP on an Inspiron 3000 233 mhz???

You're funny. XP on a 233? The only way THAT would work is if you turn off all the neat little effects, and still it would run slow. I say either use Windows 95/98 or Linux. (I have an Inspiron 3000 266, so I speak from experience)

You'd be surprised how well it runs. Sure, not anywhere near what it should, but it works okay.

Hey, experienced Inspiron 3000 user... 😀

How much RAM can you ACTUALLY fit that laptop? I read some places 384+16, Dell says 128+16. Who's lying?

Also, it helps to have a boot disk when installing win95 or 98. I don't. 🙁

With the amount of RAM that usually is used with 233MHz processors, the answer is something along the lines of "it would be freaking painful." If you have over 128MB of RAM (preferrably at least 192MB), you'd have better success, but the visual effects would be sluggish (you'd want to turn them off).

Thanks for the input everyone, but I'm afraid you missed my question.

What is the maximum RAM for a Inspiron 3000? Is it 128+16 or is it 384+16?
