hey guys I recently had to reinstall xp so I totally reformatted and went through the installation process. The only problem is, after installation it doesn't properly recognize any of my pci cards. I mean it detects that I have an "ethernet controller" a "sound card" and all the other things but it can't find any drivers for these devices. This normally wouldn't be a problem except it won't properly detect my ethernet card (it doesn't have any drivers for it). I went to 3com's website and downloaded the unified drivers and tried installing it through that but it still says can't find the drivers. I need to connect to the internet to get the rest of these updates... someone help!!! My rig is in my signature. I've installed xp on this machine maybe a dozen times and have never had this problem. I added and removed just about every component in my system but it's still not detecting. I even tried a different 3com ethernet card in a different slot and it's still not working

You might need to install your motherboard's chipset drivers before you can install other devices.

Yup, for M7NCD board (rig) see: Link

You should install SP1 BEFORE installing these drivers though. If you have the older platform drivers you can install them, in a pinch, to get the ethernet working. Then install SP1, then install the latest platform drivers should enable USB to work w/ v2.0.

Would recommend getting the REALTEK audio drivers and installing them at the end, has a few more bells/whistles than the bundled audio drivers in the platform package above.
