Learning a few lessons the hard (and stupid) way:
1) I am running an XP Pro version that my friend installed for me based on CDs he made from EDonkey/Kazaa-obtained files.
2) I never created "system disks" or backups of my system when it was running clean.
3) After trying to activate my Turbo Tax Deluxe trial version, my system refuses to shut itself down (it also won't restart, etc.). I have to unplug it or use the reset key (even the power button doesn't work).
It also won't let me delete this key code activator application because it states it is being used by another program (even when Windows is the only thing running).
My suspicion is:
1) I screwed myself (rightly, I suppose).
2) I should backup whatever I care about, format, and reinstall.
My question is (if this is right):
1) Should I even bother making install disks from what I have on my system or do I need to get a good copy and start anew?
