XP Networking Problem? Edit: solved!

I've asked this question before but it's been a VERY long time since I did and I've never gotten any answers. Maybe I'll have more luck this time around. 🙂 Ok, here goes.....

I have XP Home installed on my main machine. I have 2 "services" running in my networking. I have an Internet Gateway and a LAN connection. The problem is that the machine shouldn't be the gateway. I have my home network running through a Linkysys router for my cable connection. I have seen other machines that run internet just fine with only the LAN connection setup in the networking section of XP. The only "gateway" that I should have should be the router BUT the Internet Gateway "service" on this computer wants to dominate. If I disable that, I have no internet access on any computer on my network. I don't have DHCP enabled in the router because I wanted to keep a static IP for my LAN. This is not a huge deal as long as everything works but I'm curious as to what I'm doing wrong and if anybody knows how to fix it. Thanks in advance!

Edit: I found the problem. If anyone else has this problem, go into the Control Panel. Select Add/Remove Programs and then Add/Remove Windows Components. Under networking, uncheck the "Internet Gateway Device Discovery and Control Client". Then reboot and you should only have the LAN connection. 🙂
