XP networking, new files "not found"?

strange thing has happened, whenever i add new video files and such to a shared folder now it can't be played over the network on other pc's. it just claims file not found, even though the directory structure and files can be seen. if i unshare the directory and move the files to a new directory, reshare that directory even if i use the original share name it works again, until i add newer files.

anyone know whats going on?

possibly found a fix, old network adaptor that was physically removed but lingering around hidden mighta been causing trouble.
from ms site for removing hidden/removed devices
Method 1
1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd.exe, and then press ENTER.
2. Type set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1, and then press ENTER.
3. Type Start DEVMGMT.MSC, and then press ENTER.
4. Click View, and then click Show Hidden Devices.
5. Expand the Network Adapters tree.
6. Right-click the dimmed network adapter, and then click Uninstall.
