I noticed that when I launch my LOCAL AREA CONNECTION STATUS window, I can see that bytes are constantly being received and sent. I can also see this in the INTERNET CONNECTION STATUS window. I have since then, disabled any/all networking service/s on my XP box [except, DHCP & DNS client]. I was running IIS for my Remote Desktop but disabled that as well. I have an Intel Pro 10/100. So far, after having being logged on for 20 minutes [from a reboot] I have sent = 10,425,693 bytes AND recv'd = 9,171,256 and COUNTING. I could run NETMON and look at the TCP packets but I was wondering if anyone else has seen this before. BTW, I have another XP box with similar hardware [NIC] and it's fine. This PC I am referring to is a clean install of XP. The only third party software I have installed is NERO.
Please help.
EDIT---------
Forgot to mention, I have CABLE, Linksys Cable modem and Linksys router...which shouldn't really matter but I thought I'd mention it anyway.
