Hi all.

I recently got a new laptop which I want to share the D drive with on my main XP box. They both have XP installed and connect to the same router.

They are both in a workgroup called "workgroup" for simplicitys sake.

Now, on my laptop. I can see the computer, but I cant access ANYTHING on it. I can get it to ask for a password when it signs in as guest, but there is no guest account. I enable the guest account, it doesnt display the login box. I did the log in as different user by putting in compname\account but it still got no dice.

I went through the XP add to network crap... I am probably missing alot. XP firewall is NOT enabled, but could zonealarm be blocking it silently? Im getting no alerts or anything...

ANY help is appreciated :)

Log to this page it has a lot of links to instructions to Windows Network Setting and Sharing.

Link: Installing & Sharing

As for mapping look at WinXP own Help, it explains how to dp it.

P.S. Are you sure that the Netwrok is crap?

Thankyou sir. I did a search on google and actually found that site before (well the one it links to with the simple file sharing) but didnt delve deep enough.

I appreciate it.
