xp media center registery help

hey guys im trying to to get media center to play mp4 and avi

if someone dosent mind can you give me a step by step method on how to do this

Minimalist: install ffdshow tryouts http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/

Full package (if desired): install shark code pack http://shark007.net/vistacodecpackage.html

The shark pack includes ffdshow and a few other things. It works well and this is the route I'd suggest. Stay away from other codec packs, especially on media center computers.

I use the Shark codec pack. There is an additional program (also by Shark) that is needed if you are running the x64 version of Windows Media Center.
