XP lockup problems. Keyboard driver won't load on first boot.

I am relatively new to XP Pro.

The problem I am having is that when I first start XP anything I have to type in freezes the computer. If I restart it it works fine every time.

In other words:

If I shut down and start it up it freezes when I type anything into a program or google space or search box, anything.

If I restart it all works fine.

I haven't found the answer after doing a search. Can anyone help me out of this jam?

Thanks,

John

I am really sorry I didn't respond. I have been painting the outside of my house all week and didn't read it. I do appreciate your reply.

The viewer doesn't show anything. The keyboard driver doesn't load the first time I boot. When I look at the Device Manager it doesn't show anything for the keyboard. The mouse driver loads just fine and the keyboard functions in the Bios if I enter it on first boot. The problem occurs when Windows XP begins to load even in Safe Mode.

If I RESTART it loads every time.

Is there any way to manually change the Registry or Boot.ini or System.ini to FORCE the keyboard driver to load?

I also considered that maybe my KVM switch was the problem, but even if I bypass the KVM switch the problem occurs.

When I installed Windows XP Pro a few weeks ago I created an NT partition first.

Thanks

John
