XP laptop unable to browse the network - Can't print to network printer

Strange issue cropped up about two weeks ago and I can't figure it out as its only happening on this single laptop (XP SP3)

Printer: Brother 7820n
Router: Airport Extreme

All IP addresses are static, the XP SP3 laptop can login to the printer via the web interface, but cannot see it when browsing for a network printer in the add a printer dialog. The printer is set on the same workgroup as the XP SP3 laptop and the XP firewall is disabled. The XP laptop can ping the network printer just fine.

When I try to browse the network on the laptop, it crashes explorer after freezing for 20-30 seconds.

If I use either Bonjour or the included Brother software, it seems to be able to see the printer and lets me add it, it even shows up as 'Ready' in the Printers list, but when I print to it, it fails.

Any ideas?

Ahhh weird, ok, i think i partially figured it out. According to the ports available to the printer, it was trying to print to the WINS name. When is switched it to the IP address, it worked fine.

Any ideas why it would do that?
