XP keeps putting all new hardware under same IRQ

I have an old VIA chipset motherboard that I changed the video card out and added a USB 2.0 card to. All the new hardware is under the same IRQ. I have other IRQ numbers that are not being used but XP keeps putting the stuff on the same IRQ. I have read the info on this from Microsoft but their is no real answer about how to make XP change the IRQ to an open IRQ. Before I made these changes the video card was on it's own IRQ, which is now open.

Any ideas on how to get things balanced out on XP with the IRQ's?

That's because there's no way to do it. You can change IRQs on some devices by moving them between PCI slots, but generally there's no point.

From what I undcand the NT kernal did away with the IRQ confliced issues all together and you don't have to worry about it

PCI did away with it....

I think virtual IRQ is part of ACPI as in most socket370 motherboard and up, you cant get virtual IRQ on socket7, just IRQ sharing (usually on IRQ 9).
