XP INTERNET EXPLORER problem

i need some help whenever i open explorer it opens for a max of 30 seconds then just closes back down, i can't find an answer to this problem, any ideas???
 
what changes did you make to the system before this started happening?
you could try running sfc/runonce or scf/runnow from the cmd prompt to check & if necessary replace corrupted files!
 
Its a rockwell modem, and i am using the XP drivers i have tried it with both the xp ones and the manufactuers ones still does the same
