I just built a new machine with an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe (rev 1.6 - 1002.A BIOS). My Lite-on 40x CD/RW & 16x DVD drives were installed by XP as SCSI devices and I can't figure out why. I don't have a SCSI host adapter in this box - never have either. The drives read fine, but I can't get the CD/RW to burn a CD anymore (Nero throws up a SCSI channel error) - I know the drive itself is ok because I pulled it from another machine where it was perfectly happy. Uninstalling the devices both from Device Mngr & also physically (unplugging them) hasn't worked either - XP just adds them back as SCSI devices when I plug them back in. They are connected to the IDE 2 channel, and all jumpers are properly set. I'm all outta ideas and it's pissing me off. Anyone have any thoughts on how I can fix this? :|
