XP Installation Date

Where can I find the installation date for Windows XP? I used regedit and looked in the same place where NT stores it, but the installation date is a bunch of funky characters.

You can download the free utility "Everest from the following link and look under the "Operating System" tab and then, under the "OS Installation Date".

Look at the root of your C partition. Usually the dates on the files and folders are from the date that they were created. Should give you a pretty good idea of when it was installed.

yup, look at the properties of the windows folder & you'll see the date it was created.

Type in "systeminfo" from a command prompt (start/run/cmd/systeminfo)

Systeminfo works on XP Pro, but not on XP HOME.

There is a file in your Windows folder called setupapi.log. The first entry will tell you when you installed.
