XP install ... Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed on you computer... Any ideas better than mine?

Well, it didnt take long for this process to come to a halt. LOL 🙂

Ok, Im guessing XP isnt getting my HD cuz Its on an onboard High Point Controller.

My hd is partitioned & I do keep all of my drivers in a backup folder on drive d.
I formatted c: (of course)

Now, I never kept high point drivers cuz WinMe automatically installed its own, & they worked flawless.

So I dont have any to install.

Now, Im sure I can move my hd over to IDE1 , XP will detect it just fine, but it will run in PIO mode as my
mobo has IDE1 , IDE2 =UDMA33 & IDE3 & IDE4 = UDMA66.

But Im not sure if I put it on IDE1, install XP then move it over to IDE3 if XP will just install its own high Point drivers or not.
Or if it will see it as a hardware change.

Any better ideas than moving the HD to IDE1 for the install then moving it to IDE3 after XP is running?

BTW: this is a different rig than in my sig.
Its a Soyo 6BA+IV mobo.

you need to press f6 during setup and have xp setup install your controller drivers.
just put the drivers on a floppy, and when setup starts...hold down f6 until you get a dialog to press s to specify additional controller.

Guess I should have updated this.

I ended up moving the hd to IDE1, installed the OS, downloaded & installed the High Point drivers.

Moved HD to IDE3 & XP didnt complain a bit.

Didnt think of putting them on a floppy, wish I wouldve thought of that.

No big deal, it works both ways.

Thanks for the tip.
