XP install problem

Anyone ever get a blank screen after the first reboot on an XP Pro install? I am reinstalling the operating system and it keeps hanging at this point in the setup. It gets to the point where it asks if you need to load a raid driver, then asks about performing a restore, then it says starting windows and goes to a black blank screen. Any ideas?
 
How long did you wait. I've had some installations where I thought it had quit but in a minute or two it continued on.
 
UPDATE: Ok I saw another thread in here talking about some people having problems like this when using a GeForce 4 card. So I used an old TNT card and it worked fine.

Obviously the problem is resolved but why in the hell SHOULD this cause a problem? I mean is it NVIDIA or M$ to blame? WTF?
