XP install difficulty with Seagate Cheetah

Right now I have an XP install running on my Maxtor ATA hard drive. I have two Seagate X15s that I want to use so I put em in along with an Adaptec SCSI card. I installed XP on one of the drives and the install went fine. However, when it loaded Windows it froze up while it was at the loading screen. I can get in in safe mode but not safe mode with networking. I believe it stops at mup.sys. I tried installing the Intel infs in safe mode along with the ati drivers for my 9500. Still no luck though. Why would installing on a different drive give me problems? My current install on my ATA drive went without a hitch. Any ideas on how to get the new install running?
