XP/IE6/Outlook Express "goes to sleep", won't connect unless I reboot.

I've been having this problem with WinXP Pro and Internet Explorer/Outlook Express. I can't browse any sites until I reset my computer. IE and Outlook seem to be "falling asleep" after some time and won't connect to any webpages until I reboot. This happened with my dial-up modem, and now with my cable modem. Trying to renew the connection doesn't help. I always have to reboot. Help...
