XP: How to speed up the Start Menu? (NOT the built-in delay)

I have Windows XP and I have switched to the "Classic" startmenu and interface. The icons and labels in my start menu programs take forever to load as I open the start menu. Sometimes I wait 2-7 seconds as the hard drive chugs away. Is there any way to precache the Start Menu into memory, or anything else I can do to speed it up? (NOTE: The problem is NOT The 100-1000 ms intentional delay setting that is built-in to Windows)

Thanks.

have u been tweaking your windows xp?

this happened to me too... if u notice its not only the start menu... altho u can click on desktop icons, nothing atually opens till the delay is done...

its very irritating... i attribute it to the tweaks...

Give this a try - Control Panel, System, Advanced, and then open Settings in the Performance Box. Change to maximize Performance.

Go to tweakxp.de There is an article on a reg command that does it.
Are you refuring to the "menu delay" command? This is not what he is looking for, he is refuring to a problem with windows "searching" for the contents of the start menu.
