XP: How do I remove extra network connections without regedit?

I know how to rename them, as well as I can edit the registry...but is there a 'cleanup' program or an easier method?

Thanks

Å

Deleting them is basic from network connections...however; they still exist in the registry so the enumeration goes up.

You get:

Wireless Network Connection 4
Local Area Network 2

Delete those and upgrade your Wireless NIC and then you get:

Wireless Network Connection 5
Local Area Network 2

manually is best, registry clean up programs can really screw up your system. it's best to know exactly whats being edited or deleted rather than blindly trust these programs.

I have been doing it manually...for a connection or two it's not too bad, but when mom or dad brings over a machine it could be tedious 🙂

Right..this is not about end user type solutions. It's about cleaning out the database of enumered devices when they get out of control.

Like when someone plugs in a new card and Wireless Network Connection 10 pops up.

Each entry in the registry is mapped to a few others ID'd by GUID's...one can trace them down and clean them up.

I am looking for a way to automate this.
