(just arrived xp home) and i have a new hd in transit, my ? is what to do with existing hd, wd30gb, should i use this as master or slave drive? and should i do a clean install! thanks

Yes clean install.

Yes slave it, so that way you can access all the old files on it...

i was thinkin that the new drive (wd se 80gb) holdin more storage was the better option for the slave!
