I've used both/have both on numerous different PC's and I can't tell what the difference is between the two other than price...

XP Pro gives you the ability to reach Google.com so you can research stuff :D

It also has a significantly longer support life than XP Home because it's a business-level OS. Support for XP Home ends two years after the successor is released (Vista), whereas support for XP Pro ends September 2013, if I recall my lifecycles correctly.

Well, for us common users with home networks, the difference is significant. :)

Comparison

For most home network users the main differences are the ability to add to a windows domain, Home cannot, and NTFS permissions instead of craptaculous Simple File sharing (home)
