If I went out today and purchased a retail XP Home upgrade
package off of the shelf (say from CompUSA or BB), would it
be the same version that was sold in October? Or has MS
updated it yet with the patches?????
Greg
So that means, since I have dialup at home, that I'd have many, many
fun hours downloading the updates/patches.......I think I'll wait for
WinXP SE........heh

Im sure they will have service packs just like Win2k. You can download them to a zip disk at work or on a friends broadband when they are released. So far for my setup there are only about 7 security updates and 8 necessary? other types of updates. It works pretty well out of the box.
Yeah...My PC at work does have broadband but it's much older (the PC)
than my home PC. And neither has a zip nor CDRW drive......
I'm still thinking about it........Greg

hmm, how fast or should I say how slow is your dialup connection as I can't see you spending at most a couple of hours for critical updates, drivers & other fixes at the windows update site?
Greg, there hasn't been that many updates to date, I'd say what about 20 updates maybe, and not very big ones either, total can't be over 10mb....if ya want it go get it, longer you wait the more ya have to download.
