XP Home v. XP Professional

I will need to get a full version of either of the above to get my new rig up and running. What is advised? I basically only play games and the occasional letter + surfing.

Currently only have an XP Home recovery disk.

Thanks in anticipation

Games, occasional letter and surfing only?

XP Home will be more than enough for those purposes out of the two choices. It will also save you money over PRO version.

XP Pro has an enhanced security model which is good if multiple people will be using the computer and/or you are sharing things over the network. XP Home is fine for most users (though I'll never use it again if I can help it).

The biggest issue that I know of is that PRO has better domain support. If you're not running a domain controller or AD @ home the home version should be fine for you. As far as security just be sure to install SP2.
